On August 24, Yoha Solar shipped a manual integrated EL+IV solar cell sorter, which will be deployed on a domestic semi-automatic PV module production line for EL defect inspection and electrical performance testing of solar cells. This equipment delivery marks another practical application of Yoha Solar’s continuously optimized testing solutions for PV module manufacturing quality control.

PV manufacturers require effective screening of cell appearance and electrical performance before the encapsulation process. Manual visual inspection fails to detect latent defects such as hidden cracks and broken grids, while standalone electrical testing cannot fully identify internal and surface flaws of cells. The integrated EL and IV testing device enables dual-dimensional inspection in limited production space, providing comprehensive and reliable evaluation criteria for subsequent manufacturing procedures.
In terms of EL detection, the equipment adopts a single-camera direct capturing configuration equipped with a 5-megapixel camera. The image acquisition time is adjustable from 1 to 30 seconds, with an effective testing area of 230×230mm. It delivers high detection sensitivity, capable of identifying microcracks smaller than 0.03mm, as well as hidden cracks, cell fragments, broken grids, black cells, dark spots and concentric circle defects. Built with a dedicated darkroom environment and image magnification function, the device allows operators to observe subtle defect features for accurate judgment.

The IV testing module is fully optimized for actual cell inspection requirements. Equipped with a simulated light source compliant with the IEC60904-9 spectral irradiance standard, the device features a standard irradiance of 100mW/cm² with an adjustable range of 70–120mW/cm². Both irradiance non-uniformity and temporal instability are controlled within ±2%, with a 10ms single irradiation pulse duration. The 230×230mm effective testing area fully meets the inspection demands of mainstream solar cells.
The tester captures comprehensive cell performance data, including key parameters such as Isc, Voc, Pmax, Vm, Im, FF, EFF, Temp, Rs and Rsh, as well as complete I-V and P-V curves with 8,000 data points per test. It supports automatic irradiance and temperature compensation, with real-time temperature measurement and compensation display functions. Test results are available via voice broadcast and on-screen visualization, including testing time and graphical I-V characteristic curves.

For semi-automatic production lines, the device provides actionable testing data to guide downstream processes. EL inspection visualizes internal and surface defects, while IV testing evaluates electrical output characteristics. The combination of dual testing data delivers intuitive and accurate support for cell sorting and in-process quality control.

This delivery further demonstrates Yoha Solar’s professional capabilities in PV cell testing equipment development and industrial application. Centered on actual production scenarios, Yoha Solar’s testing devices deliver stable and precise data to help manufacturers identify defects, classify materials and standardize daily quality management. The on-site deployment of the integrated EL+IV cell sorter will further release its practical testing value for PV mass production quality optimization.
